Ive been very busy lately, not so much on the game, but thats a whole other story. As for Galaxoid, things are moving along again and I am pleased to announce that I will be releasing on OUYA hopefully by August. The iOS release will be soon to follow. I decided to release on OUYA first because I would like to get it on the system while the number of games is relatively low. Plus I think its the perfect system for Galaxoid. Ive already started working on adapting the menus and controls. As of now, the Title screen is controller ready, and the gameplay is controller ready. I still have to integrate a new leaderboard service for the OUYA release (since Gamecenter will obviously not work). To do this I will also have to build a leaderboard interface. This should be fairly simple. Im planing on using Scoreoid. They have a dead simple API. Ive aslo have someone writing the entire soundtrack for Galaxoid. Ive already heard a couple of samples and am very pleased! More about this later!

Im still hacking away at Galaxoid. Even more so now that I’ve started organizing and prioritizing everything. Ive been trying to keep track of everything in Trello and I believe its helping me move forward for sure. I may even make my Trello board public in case people maybe interested in what I am working on. So anyways, this week I’ve been working on adding the Bosses. I’ve implemented the transition to the Boss battle, Boss HUD, Boss particle effects and scoring mechanism. Ive also finished up the stats and game over screen. And… Finally I beleive I have squashed the bug where every so often when an enemy would return to group formation it would not be set back to active, this was pretty huge and I feel much better now that I have fixed this.. I hope! Now the stats page is presented after each Boss battle and the player is awarded bonus points based on; Boss level, number of breakout enemies killed up to the Boss, current Life left of player and shot accuracy. Ill probably start finishing up the tutorial scenes and also add in Game Center Achievements. I already have Game Center implemented and its working great so far with the leader boards.  Ill hopefully be posting some new screens and maybe even a video. Im usually leery of posting videos because I don’t have a good way of videoing the game and capturing its 60fps.

Well, I’m still chugging along with the development of Galaxoid for iOS. Im on that last ten percent that seems to be more like ninety percent. There have been quite a few changes over the last month or two. Ive decided on having the enemies grouped like in Galaxian or Space Invaders. They will also break out of formation, fire weapons at you, etc. Im adding in a boss battle for each enemy type as well. I have fixed the player movement to only horizontal. You get a chance for a special weapon every so often as well as score bonuses and health regenerations. More to come soon.
